How badly do you need this job?

Another big factor is that I’ve applied to dozens of places and this is one of the 3 interviews I’ve gotten, so I know an opportunity is also scarce now as well, so I’m putting up with a lot more than I’d usually would.
How long will the 20% reduction last? And what is the $ value at stake? See if it is part of a temporary firmwide % reduction. If it is firmwide, they are unlikely to make an exception.
And how much do you want this job? If this is your one chance to join the company/industry of your choice, then do it anyway. If you have a burning platform at your current employer, leave.

Still unclear, but around 6 months to a year was suggested. 110k salary and I assume it would go down to 90 at a minimum. Still have another round so I’ll know more after that. I want this job because it’s a bird in the hand. I don’t know if it’s wise to keep applying and to wait to hear back. Job is a good opportunity, just the comp part is a little sketch.
If you’re still interviewing with other places see if they can push the start date out a couple of weeks in case something else comes through. It’s definitely better to have something in this time vs waiting on something else to come along. I was somewhat in your shoes about a month ago. I was in-process with 5 companies and got an offer. I wanted to keep interviewing but I knew that the timelines of the other companies weren’t predictable. I took the job and here I am 4 weeks later still in-process with 3/5. I got an offer last week for a T2 strat firm but that job doesn’t start until feb.
TLDR; as long as the decrease in pay is greater than unemployment, I would take the job and keep interviewing.
Upon reading your other posts, my thoughts are:
1. Get the offer first. Don't complain or proactively inquire about the reduction until you get the offer. You want to avoid being eliminated because they view you as a complainer or unwilling to take the offer.
2. Take the offer, unless you have another better offer in hand. The cost of missing out on guaranteed salary now (even if a little lower than target) is higher than the benefits of rejecting this opportunity and risking being unemployed for months.
3. Continue to interview elsewhere. If you get something better (which isn't guaranteed), you can ask your employer for a match or quit. Yes, you may burn a bridge, but you need to look out for you, companies will be fine without you, and that bridge is unlikely to be ultra critical later. It is easier to quit later than make a better offer appear right now somehow.

Completely agree. These were my loose thoughts, think I just needed to hear some validation. Thanks!
Are they going to increase your salary after that period to offset the temp reduction and balance out the annual salary to what you had initially agreed upon?

Right now, all compensation info has been discussed with the recruiter so I’m going to find out. The recruiter didn’t specify any offset so I’m going to assume it isn’t there. Will clarify with her, passed 3 rounds and assuming the next is a final.
