Why would get the same raise when getting a promotion as when staying at the same level? This makes no sense.
Yeah, I got that. My comment stands. Your raise (percentage and actual dollar amount) will be bigger when getting a promotion than when not getting a promotion.
You don’t need to stay as a staff to learn and yes, it will be a bigger bump to catch with senior range
I'm in a specialized group and people in my position dont get promoted even as staff 2. Its not impossible but that's what I've seen. Staff are cheaper to get on engagements so it's relatively easier to gain more experience. I'm planning to stay long term with the firm, so I'm thinking, maybe it is beneficial to take it slow and gain the technical skills first as long as I'm getting paid "a satisfactory amount" hence I asked the question. Is the salary bump much higher when you jump to senior vs another year of staff?
Well if you're in a specialty group, then it's probably a specialty scenario as well. I've never heard of anyone not being promoted to Senior after Staff 2 year unless there are PIPs involved. So my insight probably won't be helpful, sorry.
Is there a group-specific bowl on here you can join? You might have better luck there or even a more specific advisory/tax/assurance bowl.
