Is anyone else anxious that these media layoffs are going to saturate our market even more than it already is? 🌝

I quit my previous job approximately 5-6 months ago due to toxic culture and being pressured to commit fraud… I fear hiring managers see that I’ve been out of work for this time and may assume I was fired or laid off. Additionally I’ve had a couple interviews where company “X” interviewers have commented on this and in an effort to not bad mouth my previous employer I’m stuck with a generic answer like I want to take my career to the next level with Company “X.” Any thoughts/advice?

OK gonna maybe open a can of worms here but I have to ask: it seems the sudden inflation we're seeing has taken the ins. ind. by surprise. The cost/expense projections done X yrs. ago for this and poss'y subsequent yrs. have been thrown off. Costs to repair/replace cars have shot up unexpectedly. Same for houses. Med costs have all gone up. Ins. cos. have relatively thin profit margins to begin with. There's talk of cost-cutting measures-- incl. layoffs. How realistic are these concerns?

I spend so much time getting others to do work for me & communicating with partners and clients that I hardly get anything done myself. Gunning for manager, or about to get fired for being useless?

I recently cleared all rounds of interview for Mindtree and waiting for the offer letter. However, since Mindtree has been recently acquired by LTI, is there any layoff expected to happen in Mindtree?

CPA laid off from consulting and started my own tax practice and working on tax returns. Recently I got some tax planning questions like whether the taxpayer’s new LLC should elect to be taxed as an LLC or S Corp. I basically gave free advice on pro and con, including employment tax saving consideration, etc. Do people give out free tax advices like this or do you charge? If the latter, how to price such consulting service?

Asking advice from a recruiter: I’ve been recently laid off :( This week I took some time to reflect, talk to friends and family. I want to be more thoughtful on my next move and although interviewing right away would be logical I feel I want to take a break and some time for myself. Take a month or two off working and use that time to plan thoughtfully on my next move. Would having that gap in my resume be an issue when I go back to the job market?

How important are annual reviews? Sometimes I think they can be subjective and are based on how much the partner likes you. My evaluations range from far exceeds expectations to meets expectations. Do you have to only receive “far exceeds expectations” to be a superstar Junior/Mid-level and eventually make it to Partnership/Counsel? As I become more senior, I’m trying to see if this career is something that I can excel in. Or if I’m stressing and losing sleep over something I’m just OK at.

When I first got my job 3 years ago I settled with the title I have now (Marketing Coordinator) even though it’s not really fitting. I’m the sole marketer for 3 companies. I have 7 years of experience and answer only to the C-suite. I’m honestly juggling more work than 1 person should be doing and that makes my title/salary ($54K/yr) seem insufficient. What I’m wondering is, am I being unreasonable wanting a better title/salary and does my title really matter when asking for a higher salary?

Hey! I got an offer today from R@kuten for Sr Business Analyst of CAD $110K+15% annual bonus. Verbally in conversation with recruiter I had asked for CAD 115+10% annual bonus. I was initially offered $110k+10% annual bonus. I think I’ve already priced myself low which might be decent (not sure) for Toronto but way less in comparison with Bay Area where most of team will be based off. Any advice on how to ask for more base or joining bonus?
