I’ve done both.
Reduced overall billables these days, my kids are older. Though I do have baked into my schedule that I pick one of my kids up at 3 PM, three days a week, and folks know I’m out of pocket for a few hours in the afternoon those days.
For six years, I worked four days a week.
Both have worked great. I end up having some late nights from time to time, but I’m absolutely willing to do it. The pros outweigh the cons.
And, because of the reduced target, I’m never really worried about making my hours or delivering what I promised. IMO this is a huge weight lifted.
