Is “associate of isc2” for the cissp exam worth pursuing?

Yes, it is the exact same test. The label is just a placeholder until you have the year's of experience to backup your knowledge. Anyone who tells you otherwise has no idea.

likehelpful

Yes and no. The only reason I say no is because I feel like there are other cyber certs you can pursue if you’re less than 5 years into cyber. Once you get closer to 4 years in cyber- I say go for the CISSP. The moment you get 5 years, the Associate of ISC2 converts to a CISSP.

Passing the CISSP with little to no cyber experience just tells me someone is just a good test taker. The experience is usually what backs it up. Personal opinion.

likehelpfulfunny

OP, if you can go grant he associate now, do it. I've saw many people wait until they get the experience after being motivated to learn the material, only to fail the test because they haven't taken one in 5 years. If someone judges you, tell them to pound sand. They are only jelly they didn't make that decision to take the test earlier.

likehelpful

If you support DoD or other US government clients, it qualifies you to the same level as a CISSP for some labor categories. The associate certification is cheaper to maintain and automatically rolls over into a full CISSP once you have enough experience and another CISSP sponsor you.

likehelpful

Yes, worth it

likehelpful

Generally I'd say no. It means you have to take 2 tests instead of 1 for the CISSP, and I don't think there's much prestige to such a "this is the Junior version" cert.

Yeah, once again, just confirming. This is not correct. 1 test that's it. Once you obtain the experience you'll be upgraded to CISSP.

I am trying to figure out how to switch to SWE. I have a masters in civil engineering and have a good background in higher level math. It looks like the better coding boot camps are quite expensive. The alternative is another masters in CS which is the same cost as many boot camps. Any recommendations on picking between a coding boot camp and getting another masters degree in CS? I’m looking to get into the best position possible after getting an education in CS (get a job quick and good pay).

Looking for some advice on a couple of offers I have.

The first offer is for an Account Executive position at a smaller company with a base of $50k and another $20k in OTE.

The second offer is for a BDR position at a larger and faster growing company with a base of $60k and another $20k in OTE. Also some stock options but they aren’t public yet.

I have 2 YOE as a BDR and think I could succeed in either position. Both have hybrid work set ups. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated! Thanks.

Any thoughts around how to use M&A tax skills for the better good? I’m a CPA and originally got into this for a stable / interesting job, but in the long-term I’d like to do something that either influences drafting of tax legislation or helps the public (however naive that may sound). Perhaps I’ve gotten too introspective during the pandemic. Don’t really want to go back for a JD and aside from keeping a roof over my head I’m not very motivated by money. I have worked in marketing for about 6-7 years. First few years were in social media management. My goal is to work at a big tech company.

I’ve heard mixed results about the ROI of earning an MBA. My near future goal is to move into a Marketing Director (or senior manager) role.

1) How much does Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. value MBAs in the hiring process?

2) Anyone currently working at the companies above with only a BBA?

Current situation: Marketing Manager, 90k, NYC.
