Is hybrid work still a thing for paralegals? I've been fully in office at my current job for 4 years, but it's no big deal since I'm close to home. I hardly ever see hybrid positions anymore though. I'm in the interview process with a firm 40 minutes away. At first they said they do allow hybrid work. But now they're saying it's seen as a reward for long-term employees and seem rather hesitant about it, which tells me they really don't want to do it.

Sounds like they don’t. I don’t think it’s as common for most firms that I’m seeing and talking to lately. If anything it’s usually 1 maaaaybe 2 days at home per week. The firm I’m at still has us working from home thankfully since my team outgrew the space lol

I feel like they’re fewer now. My current firm basically told me during the interview that hybrid/remote was possible depending on my relationship with my partner and turned out to be a total lie. If I ask for remote day, they allow it but begrudgingly.

Yes there are hybrid roles out there.

I work in big law at a firm where the expectation is that paralegals come in 3-4 times a week. 4 is for junior paralegals, most of whom leave in like 2yrs to go to law school. 3 for the career paralegals. I also know career paralegals who negotiated for less (0-2 days in office per week) and were successful.

Much fewer and further between from what I'm seeing. A couple years ago there seemed to be a lot more hybrid roles posted. Now almost everything is 5x/week in office.

I just went through months of interviewing I found corporate paralegals are much more likely to be hybrid, but law firm firms definitely leaned more towards the end person. My corporate position is half-and-half and I’m thrilled with it. Good luck.

I work hybrid, 50% of the time. I work for in-house counsel.

I have a hybrid role. I get two days to work remotely a week. Now that being said, I think it’s rare to find a hybrid role now.

I’m in-house, and we are solidly five days a week in office. Occasional flexibility to work from home is allowed, but the expectation is to be in the office five days a week.

Hi Fishes,

I have applied to one of the roles about 10 days back and I didn't recieve any calls regarding my screening or interview.

Can someone tell me how many days does it take for the initial screening to happen after applying.

Also, how much time will it take for all the process to happen ( screening + interview + final discussion).

Thanks in advance

Hello!
I was wondering what kind of contractual or other barriers I might face if I apply for one of the big 4 while working on a project with them in my current company.
I am not too involved in the project but I was in a few meetings and went on a field trip with them as well.
The position that I am applying for is in a different team and city.
Will this considered “poaching” if the consulting firm hires me? Would they need to talk to my current employer?

Should I accept the offer or renegotiate?

I have a promising interview at a relatively large law firm in my area (+100 attorneys) next week. The position is for a transactional role in their real estate practice group, and they are seeking someone with at least 2 YOE. I have a bit over 7 YOE with a strong real estate/commercial lit. background. Over the past two years in my current position, I've been doing a lot more transactional work. The split is around 50% transactional and 50% lit.
