I’d be afraid I’d be asked to prosecute things that weren’t *traditionally* thought of as violating national security or being cyber crimes. Are you willing to sue obGYNs for scripting medications to people in different states through the internet? I can see it going there.
Yeah, that's the fear

I couldn’t stomach it but if it speaks to you, more power to you.
It's always going to be on your resume that you went in during *this* [gestures at everything going on]. It's easier to get positions now than ever before, so the prestige ("She was good enough to get a job at DOJ, wow") won't be the same for you as for those who joined under a better administration. Also, a lot of people will judge you for having made the choice to join, knowing what we all know about the risks of what you'll be asked to do--not everybody, and if your goal is to end up working for a conservative employer later, it might help, but a lot of folks will.
Those are just the reasons it could hurt you later. In the meantime, there's a reason there are openings--morale is apparently dismal.

Totally depends on what you wanna do for your career

Too risky, both in substance and reputation. I wouldn’t do it.
National security may be an especially fraught area right now, given the use of the DOJ to facilitate executive branch overreach.

Do it and hang around until the next admin. Also, those two areas aren’t particularly partisan and neither are the attorneys who are working in those areas - look em up and you’ll see it’s career lawyer bureaucrats / revolving door to law firm types.

You are 60, what would you regret more? So go for it.
Why would it be career suicide? DOJ is political during every administration and basically half the country leans to one side or the other, so for every Partner who judges you for working for this administration, there will be another who doesnt have an issue with it. For me, the bigger issue is the measley pay, but if it speaks to you, then why mot?
Eric Holder's tenure seemed pretty political to me, but again, it's always been this way, regardless of which administration. No doubt Trump is polarizing, but so was Barack. It appears to be the way of the world nowadays.
When I think about some of my colleagues who sit at or near the top of the pyramid in several offices of various firms, they're probably split 2/3 conservative to 1/3 liberal, so I think if you develop your skillset and are strategic about things, there will be opportunities for you in the future.
