Maybe for a bit. But companies will just lower the pay/equalize it. We get paid based on demand for the city so coastal cities have higher demand. If suddenly we’re all WFH that demand lowers in coastal cities and they’ll find a new way to screw people over.

Right now, absolutely. People have moved all over the place but are still getting home office salary. In fact, many of the people who moved canceled their lease and are staying with family so they're really saving.
Not sure how companies are handling newly hired. Probably the same tbh for now with WFH. Designate the home office where you would be going in.

Ive officially transferred to a LCOL and fully remote, but kept my LA salary ($140). Husband makes similar (also remote). Our rent for a 2 bedroom went from $3300 to $750. Even if I never get a raise again, this is more than enough for us.

Yes, I worked in NYC for years then moved out west (not CA) and kept my salary.

Yeah I went from a 500 Sq ft $4,200 NYC apartment to a 2500 Sq ft house for half the price. No downsides except that it takes me longer to get to the Met if I want to go see some Van Gogh.
Currently living in small midwest city with a home office in LA/NYC

Um where did you see this? I’m working out of state and haven’t heard anything
