Is it right or wrong for me to think that none of my clients have been super happy with me if they haven't referred me to any of their peers/friends? I believe that when new clients come from referrals, it’s a testament to client satisfaction and an advisor’s reputation. I'm feeling down on that front ... would love to hear other's opinions on this.

Junior associate here (2L). Got some ‘constructive feedback’ from a 4L. We went over budget on a matter, and 4L thinks it has something to do with my inefficient delegation to 0Ls (and not the all the out of scope work the client asked us to do but doesn’t want to pay for...). Delegated tasks included basic grunt work like splitting out documents, preparing execution versions and other low-level tasks. 4L asked me to check with them before I delegate anything in the future. Thoughts?

Two years out of college do you still leave clubs and older internships ( maybe your junior summer) If they are relevant and show leadership depth

My manager continues to ask me to help other teams and do work on other billable projects. I’m sick of it .. and I’m going to explicitly say that no I can’t do it because my hours are taken by the existing project we are doing. Is this appropriate?

I just picked up a new freelance gig after coming out (again 😮‍💨) but professionally and they're really respecting my pronouns! They did a whole thing where they're having people add their pronouns to their email signature too 🥰

They never make a deal out of it and if they mess up they correct and move right along. They're from the Midwest and some of the team is older too so its really nice 😅

Found out today my toxic manager bad mouthed me to an HR rep in a different division. This correlated with his bad management and abusive behavior. Luckily the new manager I’ll soon be working with dismissed it. Her words of wisdom “reflect on what you could have done differently, you can only control your actions”. How does that resonate for you? Have you had similar experiences?

What’s the overall feeling about presentation attire? Suit and tie?

Past jobs were casual dress and I have been working remotely for the past years. Starting a new job that’s hybrid for a bank and their attire is business casual. It’s starting to get too cold for flats. Are booties/ankle boots appropriate?

My annual perf discussion is monday morning. I work on a tough team for a tough place. I think Im a pretty good/almost high performer but only around 3 years and my boss seems to still act like I’m brand new (lifer boomer). When a senior banker(male) has asked you (female) to go to lunch multiple times with him. What to do? Is it unprofessional to keep saying no? It seems like more than just a friendly lunch.

I am seriously worried. I am doing my co-op and my supervisor is not giving me an easy time. Looking for advice on defending depositions. I am a first year associate and am defending my first deposition next week. I reviewed the prior transcripts from this case, and there were objections to what seemed like proper questions. Is there a strategic reason to object beyond improper form? For example, if my client is asked something that could be harmful (or at least make us look bad), should I just object? Very worried this transcript will be ex.
