Is it the same pay for all A1 at B4 same office same service line?

Hi All,

Say you have an offer for Senior Test Engineer and SDET (not senior).
Compensation is same. Both the companies are good.

Given the narrowing boundaries between testing and dev, which position is better in the long run? I thought it'd be SDET.
But, I'd like to have expert/experienced opinion.

Which firms have the best tech/software?
What is Big 4 ranking in terms of tech?
How about local firms?

My laptop always crashes because it cant handle the software we use. Im on 3rd laptop.


Looking at making the jump, have offers from all the B4 and a few locals. Currrent tech is my biggest stressor and sometimes losing hours worth of work just ruins my day/week.

Primarily focused on Private Equity, and HNW.

FAANG (or MANGA) companies seem to be the holy grail for lots of people exiting BIG4 or even banking/consulting types looking for finance analyst type roles in industry.

Anecdotally, the pay & culture seems good at those companies, but are there significant cons to "finance analyst" type roles in those orgs which would deter you from working from them? (I.e work hours, progression etc?)

I have worked in municipal government for almost 17 years. I love what I do as an Inspector, but the environment is toxic, and administration horrible. I have an opportunity to go into the private sector side, as well a second interview for another municipality doing same job. Private sector job will pay 35,000 more but will be 3 hrs away my husband is in law enforcement and can’t leave due to his position. Concerns are: private sector and when recession hits, it’s construction, away from hubby

Any Amazon counsel or other FAANG attorneys willing to share how their comp review has worked? I’m really happy with my offer(lower base, really high signing bonus and decent RSUs) and was told their would be yearly comp reviews but wondering how that plays out the first few years...

What’s a fair signing bonus to ask for if I’m countering an offer at 125k base? Is 20k signing bonus for a tech strategy (not FAANG) sr. Analyst role too much to ask?

72k + 7% bonus + WFH permanently

Or

90k hybrid 2-3 days in the office. (20min drive now however I am moving an 1.5 hours away)

They both have their benefits and company match.

The 90k is also a new team so a lot of growth opportunity while the 72k is well established team. If this matters at all.

Timing for recruiting for the purpose of negotiating salaries: I like my job/company, but know I can get a better salary with my skills/experience elsewhere. With promo reviews coming up, I expect to receive a promotion, but want to have another offer to inflate my salary a bit more. Anybody have insight on the timing and general do/don’t?

Currently an associate at a V30 and negotiating a partnership position at another V30. What is the correct way to maximize the pay in the negotiation as a lateral partner? Being promoted to Director of Sales Development at my current company. Based in Toronto.

My base is being bumped from 110 to 125, and OTE for another 50 up from 35 CAD.

I personally know a few SDR managers that make more. Am I being lowballed? I don’t want to come off as sounding ungrateful for the promotion.
