If I saw someone doing this I’d personally find it weird tbh, even though I totally get the desire
It's better to get a quick nap and be productive for the rest of the day than being worried about what people think.
People will assume the worst
They will assume you’re on drugs, drunk or sick. I do this daily at home though so I totally understand why it’s needed in the office.
lol you definitely can’t do that
Define definitely
This is why we need nap rooms, do you have single person conference cells that you could take a quick 10 in?
The bathroom in a low traffic part of your building or one near you. I often found the bathroom at the library or a study cube at the library to work well. Put on your headphones- preferably over the ear and don’t put your head down but prop on one elbow. Face a corner and nobody is going to bother you. If you have to revert to the bathroom option just don’t drop your pants and sit on a newspaper.. it’s a last resort and always better if it’s not your building.
In general it’s really not normal to need a nap in the middle of the day as an adult
Did you seriously just suggest that someone is going to shoot and kill me bc I don’t believe in napping at the office…
And I’m the one who’s lacking respect, sure that makes sense
I like to close my door, look out my window like I’m thinking deep thoughts but really I’m just sleeping
I realize this is funny. But I really do it. 5 min nap = productivity boost for hours
I did it early in my career and my boomer bosses were a bit fussy about the appearance, even though it was at lunch. Mainly if one of the higher ups had come through and saw me. I get it, and I haven’t done it on some time.
If you can find a quiet nook out of the way somewhere would probably be better. Of course, make sure you’re back up in time for lunch to be over.
I’m a boomer boss and I say nap away! It is definitely better for my business if the people working here are able to meet their own needs. It is really why I struck out on my own. I hire adults, they have jobs to accomplish and I don’t care how or when that gets done. 8-5, 10-7 or 9-3, as long as it gets done. Kids get sick, appointments need to be made, life happens and it is ridiculous to assume it can be done after hours.
My final straw was when I wasn’t going to be given the afternoon off for the closing on my first home.i have plenty of notice but was told that morning couldn’t leave. I did leave, and as soon as my documents were signed I went back and quit. Now I’m not telling another grown adult how long to take for lunch! I would say I have a higher level of quality productivity and the lowest turnover of anyplace I know of and I don’t ever feel taken advantage of.
The rest of corporate America needs to get onboard because nobody should be putting up with this garbage micromanagement!
I know it’s frowned upon in office setting but honestly what’s wrong with catching a short nap during lunch? Power Nap anyone?
Now I work from home so I catch a few 💤 during lunch. It helps get back to work refreshed.
I swear I WFH and that quick 20 min nap is everything!
What happened to napping on the toilet?

Is sleeping at your desk in office rude? Not at all. That is CEO level caliber. Go for it.
🤣🤣🤣 love this.. have wanted to do it many times but never had the courage!!
The comments are awful 😞
In my opinion it's totally healthy to listen to your body. And it's totally professional to manage your work time as effectively as you can. So, if you need to go to the bathroom or take a nap - just do it as soon, as you can! 😉
Quick Power Nap ? That definitely should be allowed and other team members should understand it. I would let folks in my team do that if they wanted to. those power naps are so helpful. it helps reset the fatigue from your first half. Once you do a reset using Power Nap, go wash your face, grab a cup of coffee and you will find new energy. You will super focused after that and you will get more work done compared to the situation if you were drowsy and not able to focus because you are too sleepy. If you work from Accenture office talk to your supervisor and enlighten them about the benefits of power naps and do it. if you are in client place, just make sure you are not napping in front of other vendors or clients. In some client offices I have seen quite rooms or sleep pods for this. so if you have one at your client take benefit of that. But end of day we are humans and our body and brain will appreciate a 10 min reset for a productive rest of the day.
You know, a company I worked for company started a whole guided meditation lunch program because one person started doing it,
Maybe scheduling a conference room for 30 minutes tell everybody bring a cup of coffee and then takes a 25 minute power nap could be a thing
Is it unprofessional to wash yourself in the bathroom after sleeping in the janitor’s closet?
Use a room, preferably without windows
Bottomline sounds like you need more rest.
Western society doesn't get that people benefit from naps and are more productive. Speak with your superior or HR. If your company doesn't get it, educate them or find a company that encourages taking care of yourself. Be the change that we all need. I discuss self-care with my team regularly and the importance of safety, mental and emotional health.
Research shows that short naps, often called "power naps," can be beneficial for your health by boosting alertness, improving memory, enhancing cognitive function, reducing stress, and potentially even improving mood, making them a positive addition to your routine when taken in moderation and at the right time of day.
Key points about the benefits of naps:
Increased alertness:
A short nap can significantly improve your focus and ability to react quickly, especially when feeling tired during the day.
Memory consolidation:
Napping can help solidify information learned earlier, leading to better memory recall.
Improved cognitive performance:
Studies show that naps can enhance problem-solving abilities and creativity.
Stress reduction:
Napping can help lower stress levels and promote relaxation.
Mood enhancement:
A well-timed nap can positively impact your mood and reduce feelings of frustration.
Potential brain health benefits:
Some research suggests that regular napping may be associated with a healthier brain volume, potentially slowing down age-related cognitive decline.
Important considerations when napping:
Nap duration: For optimal benefits, aim for a short nap of 20-30 minutes.
Timing: Avoid napping too late in the day as it can disrupt your nighttime sleep.
Individual needs: If you experience difficulty falling asleep at night after napping, consider adjusting your nap schedule or duration.
