Management is by far the hardest and it's going to be 60-70% of what you do.
Also, I gotta be honest, I'm stumped you've been offered that... Is it some tiny shop or a difference in title nomenclature?
^ Don't copy my comments, LOL
When opportunity knocks ...as long as you're up for the challenge of the new title
Craft, yes. Vision, yes. Management, no.
Titles are silly in this industry. But. If something feels like a huge, perhaps illogical jump, it probably is. And if it's a really overinflated title, you don't want that anyway. Everyone who has more than a few years in this biz knows what a 5-yrs-experience SVP/EVP/ Grand Poobah of Shit Mountain really means.
It can be done, with the right mentor or VP. Managing people (and all of the baggage they bring to your feet) isn't something to take lightly. Make sure the hiring manager is open and willing to provide you guidance
Do you have the experience for it?
Thanks for the advice - me too. If it sounds to good to be true...
Is it a smaller shop? Why the big jump?
Oh...btw, if this is a solicitation email for a potential job from a recruiter, then it's one who has no idea what they are talking about, doesn't understand our industry structure/titles, and is blindly shooting emails to anyone who came back as a result during their Boolean search. I get those that I'm unqualified for all the time too 😊
