Pretty Much Pointless from a PMP

That’s what I was thinking. What about scrum? I’m not in a technical role but I see it often in qualifications for projects and seems relevant?

Scrum is good, just know that without some actual experience in agile, it’s going to be hard get a scrum master role. Use it to augment project/program management experience.

Thank you everyone for validating my thoughts. I came from the military to Deloitte and have seen it on some preferred qualifications on projects. I initially didn’t think it was worth the trouble so thank you all for replying!

I’m trying to find my “niche” since I’ve only done pmo type stuff on my project

Same here! Any tips on how to find your “niche” ?

Here’s another perspective - it’s “worth” it because it provides the project credibility and helps sell more work if you have certs. There’s was also a post couple days ago saying Deloitte pays you for it (or pays for it) so why wouldn’t you if you’re niche is PMO?

Haha yeah I totally get that people THINK it’s valuable and often include it as preferred. My point is just that anyone who thinks that does not actually understand the value in having it - just find a smart insecure ambitious person and they’ll aggressively deliver for you, regardless of PMP very. Just want to avoid someone getting it and thinking they’re actually going to improve skills from the content.

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

My Android career is in a good shape in India. My parents are considering a marriage alliance with an NRI who is a Civil engineer in Texas. How long does it usually take to get work visa and how easy/tough is it to get a job there considering I have 6+ years of experience in the field?

Do you disclose when you were promoted on your CV? I’ve been as a assistant manager for over a year but have just been ‘promoted’ to manager. Have been doing the same role for the entire time… only thing that changed was my official role title. Do I need to split this out into two roles on my CV?

Would ideally like to keep as one optically to avoid having to ‘spend more time in the manger role’… as I’ve been doing that role for a year now and keen to move on!

Thanks in advance and Merry Xmas!
