I thought PWC Director is more like a Sr manager
It's just what they call a Senior Manager. Your role will be identical to what you're doing now as an experienced SM. Not worth moving unless they are offering you like 20% more comp, or if the path to partner is dramatically better - and I REALLY doubt it would be.
Oh, also could be worth jumping if you hate your team and want to roll the dice on a new set of jokers.
Prefer the a-holes I know and have dirt on over a new roll of the dice any day.
It’s senior manager
Pwc director is like kpmg SM3-MD2
It’s a different structure - directors are effectively senior managers in authority who are close to partner.
MDs have signature authority on engagements and really are operating in a functional partner role.
Agree it’s a little blurry. As a more experienced SM, PwC is offering me a director role.
nit even close. pwc director is like a manager lol. we r a joke over here lol
I dont know what deloitte pays u over there but at pwc, pay is on a cohort system in tax so everyone gets paid the same. Most external hires may be hired at one cohort above their experience to get a pay bump. they may also get a sign on bonus. ex: if youre a 1st year manager at deloitte, pwc may bring you in at the 2nd year manager cohort to get a pay bump. Everyone in your cohort gets paid the same. Every year you will either stay at the same cohort ( you suck), move cohort horizontally (no promotion), or move vertically (promotion). moving horizontally will get you around 2% to 7% pay raise. Vertically will get you a 15% to 30% payraise depending on how far right u r on the cohort. the further right you are the lower the increase is when it comes to promotions. ie: an 2nd year manager getting promoted to SM will see around a 25% pay increase. a 5th year manager getting promoted to SM will likely see a 5% increase. their pay will be the same since they are both first year SM regardless of total years of experience.
