Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

Yes. It is generally safer.
There are lots of homeless there as well, and they had that whole hepatitis outbreak a few years ago; but, there really isn’t any comparison with the demilitarized-zone that has taken over venice
Come to south bay. Manhattan and Hermosa have 0 homeless people and are such clean beach towns. Venture down south
P1 - Mahanttan and Hermosa have 0 homelessness and redondo beach front also has 0. I've never seen 1 tent and rarely see someone who is homeless ~1 person per week. That is quite astonishing and I absolutely love it.
But echoing what the PM said - food scene could use an upgrade. But that's minor
First of all, I’m sorry you were attacked and hope you are OK.
Anything that is LA City (which Venice technically is) is subject to Garcetti’s approach, which has been largely hands off. Further, Councilman Mike Bonin (who oversees the palisades down to PDR) is very pro-homeless and against more proactive treatment and enforcement. It’s a tragedy what Venice has become! On the strand, you can see the difference when you transition from Santa Monica to Venice.
I love San Diego (and lived there for a while). But if LA is really where you want to be personally and professionally, I’d look for an incorporated city (Culver City, SM, WeHo, South Bay cities, etc.) as they tend to be more proactive about helping homeless individuals and not tolerating crime and havoc.
Stay safe!
While not in Venice, I’m in one of Bonin’s neighborhoods and am fed up. Planning to move to the South Bay.
Im sorry that happened to you :( I feel like Venice is generally a less safer part of the westside. Would recommend Santa Monica or Brentwood if you’re looking to stay in LA

I think that’s more so Venice than La. I make it a point to never visit Venice because of how much crime and homelessness there is. Every street is littered with tents and all you see are needles on the street.

This is not very encouraging though... some of the places mentioned are the only safe places we have left https://www.google.com/amp/s/patch.com/california/culvercity/amp/29548591/la-to-explore-controversial-homeless-camp-at-culver-city-property
Yes San Diego is widely safer than LA, especially Venice. Used to live in several different areas in San Diego for a year at a time and now I’m in Venice.

Thank you for sharing! Are there areas of SD that you’d recommend?
I went to Venice last week - walked down from SM and was shocked by the level/volume of homeless people, it’s just too much! Sorry you got attacked, did you call the police ?

I agree! Yes I did go to the police but nothing will come out of it.

Sorry to hear - hope you are okay and reported it to the police. Venice is about to get cleaned up soon.
San Diego has fewer homeless than LA, but in my experience they can be just as erratic and unpredictable.
In addition to Brentwood, there are plenty of areas in LA where you won’t have a homeless issue although they are farther from the beach. Sherman Oaks is a fairly easy drive to the beach and has minimal homeless folks.
Brentwood has a large encampment next to the veterans park now but they do not really interact much with people or bother people like other places. It’s much better than Venice, SM, Hollywood or dtown for sure
San Diego has a homeless population if you hang out in the gaslamp and downtown areas near Broadway. But no one really lives there. North park is a fun, safe area. There’s of course la jolla and Del Mar/Carmel valley but they’re the burbs so not as fun as being in a large metropolis like LA. If you’re okay with a more laidback life also check out the coastal towns of Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside. Having been here for over two years I’d say La Jolla near UTC or Little Italy are two great options for people looking to move to SD from big cities
Those vicious streets are filled with strays
You should've never gone to Hollywood
