With rumored Amex platinum benefits, I am going to cancel my venture x when the annual fee is due, and keep Amex platinums for me and SO.
Yeah, losing Priority Pass on the Venture X is a big one for me too. If independent lounge access is important and that perk is a must, the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Amex Platinum are the best alternatives, since both still give full Priority Pass (and more) for authorized users, though at a higher annual fee.

We had to open a 2nd one exactly for the reason you mentioned. My home airport is expecting a Sapphire lounge right about the same time as when I'll get the Ritz card, so I may think about cutting at least one of our VX at that point. Using the portal twice a year is really annoying; once is enough risk for me. But for now, we love going to the Cap One lounge every trip.
You can also just pay for your spouse to have access for $125. Since you want independent access, it's a cheaper option than Sapphire Reserve that costs $195 for AUs (plus the ridiculous annual fee).
Because of the changes to the venture x card, my parents, who are both currently my authorized users, will be getting their own each in January. It’s an easy keeper card since they fly multiple times a year. It also has amazing travel insurance protection.
