he is probably just an associate
He is an associate to the partner
Either he got his firm or title wrong... weird red flag
Ask him about a xls hot key. If he knows it and is excited, then he's clearly very junior and cannot be trusted. If he looks confused, has to think, but still knows it, you should inquire more. If he doesn't know it, he's either not a consultant or a full partner, and lied again.
Do you want me to check him out in our database? Feel free to post a burner
Nope
He lied! Also can't you just look him up on LinkedIn?
I think M1 is making an office joke. Dwight: I'm assistant regional manager. Michael: he's the assistant to the regional manager
They're called just Principals at BCG. AP is what we use at McKinsey.
He probably has or will lie about other..."shortcomings", if you will.
Go on second date, ask for last name, search on LinkedIn, update this fb thread 😂
My guess he is a principal but used mckinsey terminology to come across as partner
Maybe you did connect! Stop thinking about whether he lied until you find his last name and check via linkedin
So I asked him his last name seven hours ago, no response. I guess the case is closed!!
Ok it is weird. He came to meet me from a client meeting wearing jeans and a casual shirt. I don't know his last name to check him out on Linkedin. When I asked him details he did talk about the two tracks- consulting as well as the Business dev track. He talked about an AP role which is just below the Principal level. I really don't care that much about his role, but more so about the need to lie if he is lying.
Oh yes, I will. Especially since he "really really likes me very much"!!!
bcg2- you are the sweetest, let me figure out his last name
We don't have these roles and we don't have a Biz Dev track. We have Associate Directors and Directors on our Expert track but that doesn't sound like what he told you. Run away...
My guess would be his actual job is some sort of a staff role...not client facing , with an inflated job title. I'd bet he didn't know that you were a consultant when he was talking.
Common...cut that guy a slack..give him the benefit of doubt and chance..don't rule him out, he's probably nervous and splurted the first thing that came out of his mouth.. like if somebody asked me what I do I'd probably say Engagement Directing Managing Partner..
No idea, am trying not to be hard on him or jump to conclusions, given that he told about a previous marriage and another relationships, but we also know the world is full of half-truths. I never asked him what he did, when we met online. He asked me what I did for work, I said I was a Manager with Deloitte and he responded, he was a BCG/P. So there was no pressure to lie about anything. So annoyed right now since I thought we connected to some extent when we met. Thanks fam!!!
