If anything, get Alaska Airlines to match it. I got MVP 75K as match for UA Platinum.
Don't do it
The DL conference call transcript from last week zoomed in on why I personally switched from #AAssholes to DL:
"Operationally, we ran the best operation in the industry by a wide margin and we continue to raise the bar on ourselves. We ended 2016 with 241 days of no mainline cancellations and 81 days with no system cancellations, a level of performance that no airline has ever come close to producing on our scale. As we are doing that, at the same time we are regularly keeping on-time arrivals at nearly 87% and improving our bag scores by 13%, incredible work by the entire operations team."
Yeah right after they waive your flight change fee
^BCG1 with the true clutch advice. AS or bust.
Alaska won't get you upgrades on AA
#AAsucks. #ihateAA. #neverAA
Don't do it. You will regret it. WSJ ranked #AAssholes as the worst US carrier last week, even behind Spirit.
I was in Houston for 2 years so I was Platinum with UA and then moved to Chicago and now I'm EP for third year. In terms of service and on time performance, I'd say they're pretty much same level of shitty. AA however has much better hard product (planes, seats, and lounges). They fly lots of international planes between hubs and they have the most lie flat seats in the US. I've only had one terrible delay (2+ hours) due to mechanical reasons and I got 15k miles out of it. Other than that my experience with AA has been very pleasant. Delta has great service and great performance but their points are really really worthless compared to AA and UA so I'd rather survive AA to enjoy luxury awards later.
A1, I think #AAssholes just devalued AAdvantage miles to be the same as SkyPesos as AA jacked up the miles required per ticket.
The difference I studied is that DL gives additional miles based on tier. As a DL Diamond, I'm knocking out 11 SkyPesos per $ spent on top of the miles and bonus. If #neverAA is doing that and your experience has been good, can't knock it and suggest switching.
All three of the US3 award redeemable miles based on dollar spend with similar elite multipliers.
^ yes you are awarded the same across all 3 but they still have different redemption charts when you actually want to use your miles... https://www.milevalue.com/comparison-of-united-delta-and-american-airlines-latest-2016-award-charts/
And the frequency of opening award seats also varies... In my experience UA opens lots of economy seats last minute while AA opens lots of business seats last minute and good luck finding Delta seats anytime for a business or first international flight
