Is Uber at ORD okay now? Several months back when I took Uber from ORD I waited for 20 minutes because of traffic in parking lot. Trying to decide to fly to MDW or ORD

I look at traffic when I land. When it is bad I take the blue line to Wicker Park and then Uber from there.

like

Just take the train. Traffic is a nightmare and I get there in half the time. Also it’s better for the environment

likefunny

But you can get a cab once you get off the train. Honestly, I'll Lyft to a blue line on Monday morning knowing it'll be faster than cab the whole way

Book when you’re getting off the plane

like

Yes. Should take under 10 minutes.

like

Just to downstairs and get a taxi. Price will be the same but you won’t have to wait 10-15min

like

still wait 15-20min every week

like

MDW isn't much better. Construction and they are trying out new loading methods (at least with Lyft) where they queue and give you a code to a driver ....sort of seemed like a taxi line at O'Hare/Midway.

like

I came in a Monday night and there wasn't much traffic. My Lyft driver said he was waiting in the car line for an hour to finally get a passenger. Not many people around that night.

I waited about 20 minutes at ORD this past Monday

like

This is hopeless 😩 standing in the queue for taxi is also torture in this weather

like

ORD’s taxi lines are usually really short for terminal 1

like

No took 30 minutes on Tuesday

Recommend TAXi when billable.

Yesterday I was on personal time- Lyft took about 7 minutes to meet in the “green zone”. However, these pick up zones are horribly disorganized with people loading and unloading across all 5 lanes- essentially making it a parking lot.

So although my Lyft got there in <10 minutes we couldn’t get out of this parking lot type traffic for an additional 5 minutes- less aggressive drivers might be even longer.

I call it as I’m getting off the plane. Or, I ask the driver to meet me a level below. Problem averted

Hit the button on the plane

Lyft driver delayed picking me up 30 min, resulting in me canceling my ride and asking hotel to call me a “yellow taxi” to get to the airport because it was 5am and all ubers/lyfts were 15 min. Specifically said yellow. Hotel calls me a private lux SUV and the driver got out of the car to handshake the man who called and said hi (honestly money couldve been passed). I then get hit with a $180 ride. Marriott website says taxi should be $65. Should I complain or let it go?

I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.

Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.

JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups). Is the same true for tech trans or IP group?
