My experience was that salary was a little higher on agency side but the total comp package and upside going brand was much bigger if it includes bonus and potential for stock options every year aka the golden handcuffs
Comp packages will look different. I took a pay cut, but more than made up for it with a bonus and far better benefits. You’ll have to weigh whether moving is worth it if you are already seeing it as taking a hit.

👆had same experience. Perspective needs to switch based on the context of client vs agency and how they each make money
If you try that kind of pivot, you may need to reframe your experience. Agency people are often perceived as workers or doers, and to successfully move to in-house you want to portray yourself as an architect of growth. So backing up your experience with examples and metrics showing how you took the initiative may be helpful. The move can be a challenge because in this depressed job market salaries tend to be pushed downward anyway. Also, inquire about equity and bonuses, those might make things much more attractive.
