I've been a paramedic for 9 years and I am pretty burnt out. From years of having my brain chemistry altered by death, blood, guts, and physical assaults. I am currently finishing a BS in community health and I am also looking to get my CHES after I graduate. I am looking to work in public/community health for a change in career. My concern is this, am I just trading one high burn out career for another, or can I am on a career track I can retire in.

Why is partner comp so opaque? I can’t think of any other job where they expect you to go for promotion with such little understanding of what you’re actually going for, how long you have to stay etc.

I spent a year in tax investigations where I believe I was thriving ( I was going to be an assistant manager in July 2023), I had a lot of assistant manager jobs, I even drafted a Code 9 report to HMRC which my manager said was 80% of an actual report, he then added the 20% and submitted it.
After I realised I couldn't maintain all the unpaid overtime I was working I decided to take a turn and go to compliance, so now I work in CT compliance. I feel very surpressed.
