You should already be gone!
Document as much as you can. If you can prove a hostile work environment, you may get some unemployment. Take care of yourself.
This is great advice.
I had a similar experience at one my early PR jobs with a very toxic manager who for some reason absolutely hated me. She was actually cruel at times and it definitely impacted my self esteem and my performance. After a year of being in that Hell, I realized that my mental health was more important than any job and I quit without a back up. I was terrified but also moved back home to help during my job search. I landed a new job that I loved within 4 months it freelanced in the interim. Good luck!

Leave now. Nothing’s worth your mental health.
Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I concur that you should get out asap, just keep in mind the job market is extremely competitive right now and the application/interview process could add to your stress. Unless you already have something lined up or you get lucky, it could take months to get an offer. Don’t want to come off as a downer, but just keep that in mind and try not to let it take a toll on your mental health.
Definitely beef up your network, pay for LinkedIn premium and put up that recruiter thing saying your looking (your company can’t see), and start therapy. For real. You’ll take what you learned about yourself and toxic people and grow from it even if it feels dark and endless right now, believe me. Strengthen your relationships with positive hardworking people.
Do what is in your best interest, not your employers. Try to make the best of where you are now but start looking, don’t wait until the busy period is over. Employers are much more understanding about shorter term employment than they have been in the past.

Edelman?
No not Edelman
Some people are such assholes! Sorry you are dealing with this. Leave!
Leave immediately. I had a similar situation last year, and I’m glad to have left.
Wait: depending on the firm you work for, your direct manager may be the real issue. Why should you leave bc of him/her when there could be a fantastic, motivating, encouraging manager where you currently work? I love that you stood up for yourself and broached that person directly. Now it’s time to elevate it and go to someone senior. Be very clear about your ask and your expectations. You want a different role and it needs to happen immediately Or they need to replace your direct manager for you to stay on that business. Be sure to explain you directly spoke to your manager and haven’t seen improvement. This approach OFTEN works because they don’t want to lose a valued employee. Furthermore- if others have made the same complaint- your complaint might be the “3strikes and you’re out” impetus for there to be consequences to this poor, bullying behavior. I wish you so much luck!
Edelman is known for ignoring toxic behavior and promoting or moving worst offenders. NY CPA was decimated and lost incredible talent in the manzini wake, as leadership and HR didn’t take proper action. Document everything and make HR aware, recognize change doesn’t always happen quickly, look elsewhere now….. and be kind to yourself
I’m not at Edelman - but thank you for the advice!
Leave as fast as you can. I don’t know your financial situation if you can afford to go without work till you find another role. But, in the meantime document EVERYTHING. literally every interaction you have with this person. In writing is always better. Record meetings etc. Protect yourself and hard evidence will always help just incase HR or others ever get involve
