Putting location aside, I find it frustrating that I continuously see the same positions posted. Are these employers actively hiring? It seems like there are a lot people looking for jobs. Can they just simply not find anyone? Are candidates being weeded out by software or AI? How many good candidates are overlooked?
Location is definitely a consideration in finding work. Higher cost of living areas tend to have more job opportunities but then all your expenses go up. Is there a smaller city you'd be interested in relocating to? I think that seems like the best solution
You are right about that OP. There really are not enough jobs to go around and this job market is so competitive. I have even been looking for something remote that is in a different state because I thought maybe that would help me but it hasn't. Jobs are so hard to come by right now.
That's very true, geography can play a huge role in your job search. Some parts of the country are doing better in some sectors, and some areas are just pretty flat no matter the industry. And in some areas there's just a lot of demand so it's very much an employer's market.
Another factor that may play into why landing a job has become more difficult nowadays is the fact that in many cases job applications are being scanned by AI for specific criteria which can lead to many if not most applications falling through the cracks.
I have been off more than a year. The higher income you make and older you are. The more difficult it is...the best thing to do is might consider career change.
I've been off for over a year and a half after I'd gone off travelling and taking a break. It's a very difficult market made harder by ageists and companies not wanting to pay the going rate for experienced staff.
Judith....look for a remote job. There are still a lot of work from home jobs out there.
I agree! There seems to be more work from home, jobs. My problem is that I don't live in my own home, and don't have the environment that is suitable.
I'm still looking every day, applying every day! And still nothing is coming my way!
I feel this right now. I've been searching for the last 2 years and haven't come up with anything. I live outside the DFW area in Texas and don't want to commute over an hour every day but my city doesn't really offer anything I can do either :(
Depends on job position but I highly recommend getting Remote!
