What is a good salary for a director in NY?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Take some notes about what you've been doing and document how your workload has doubled. Have a meeting and make the case that you're doing more work and you're a more valuable employee now and your pay should reflect that. If you make your argument with information and data it'll be a fair request, as it will be based on facts. As long as you're respectful and don't come off as unserious your request should be taken seriously.
Is it better to call it something else? Like cost of living adjustment?
Whatever you do, don't couch the request as a "retention raise." Don't even mention the word retention. Getting more money from a company is hard enough without them worrying about you being a flight risk. Keep the convo focused on the added work you're doing and the positive impact that's been having on the company.
Got it, that’s true they just have high turnover and I’ve been loyal
Definitely don’t call it a retention raise lol
Noted!
