That is a fair assessment of leaders in general. Poor leaders believe you work for them and must do things exactly when and how they say. There is no room for thinking for yourself. I’ve told my team if I micromanage to call me out on it. Rarely is that ever necessary and should never be necessary with an experienced team.
Totally. I think that anyone in a leadership position over you who tries to use their role as leverage over telling you what to do or demanding certain things of you is not a leader at all. Good leaders are there with you in the trenches, every time
Agree that being a leader does have some hard decisions attached, but at the end of the day if you are working against your team and not with them, it’ll always be a bad result at the end. The difference between good and bad leaders really impacts the workplace.
I’ve had the best experiences with leaders who ask for and also use ideas from the team. Even if it’s a little harder. Leaders who will strategize and problem solve with you. IMO a great leader gives you the rules of the game , allows you to play in your own way while being consistent while throwing flags and giving high fives!!
A role of a leader is simple - remove roadblocks and give your team the resources they need to succeed
