I’ve gone through 4 rounds of interviews for a Product Management role at a FAANG company. Was told before the last round I just completed that it would be the last round (basically involved a case presentation to sr leaders within the group). Heard back from HR that they’d like to schedule me for one additional round with an even more Senior Director from the team. Fish fam - any experience having additional rounds added or what I should expect from this latest final round?

Why do people act like all five of the FAANG companies act the same way and have the same process? Is there some sort of benefit of saying FAANG as opposed to just being specific about which company?

I think it’s important context. They have different interview processes, cultures, approach to comp, etc....can you just share which one?

like

Agreed, makes no sense. Give useful info or move on.

Very informal. Might mean a new director who just got onboarded or didn't have time to be part of formal process but would like to have a quick chat history with final candidates.

Okay just read the prep session, thats a little odd. Sounds like they may be splitting hairs between final candidates?

like

I would very much wish this was the case but actually they’ve been there for over 12 years and wouldn’t be surprised if they were within striking distance of reporting to the CEO

For additional context, they also set me up with a 30 min prep session with the hiring manager a day prior

Please help. I’ve moved up the ranks pretty quickly at the company I work for to become a Principal SE. My manager thinks the best next step for me is to move into management and leadership and has started pushing me to apply for an engineering manager role. They say that I will be a good fit because of my strong technical background paired with the leadership and people skills I display currently.

I’m torn because I do love being an IC but I’m interested in leadership also. What do I do?

How big of a deal is it to jump firms before getting a promotion? Up for promo in a few months but got an SC offer that better aligns with the type of work I want to be doing.

Currently a big 4 consultant and got an offer from FAANG for a strategy and ops role that would bring my total comp up 60%. I’m really grateful for the offer and really excited, however, I am also interviewing with MBB. It has always been a goal of mine to work for tier 1 strategy firm as I’ve always felt on the outside looking in at big4. I feel like most exit ops from strategy would be S&O industry roles but still can’t get these MBB firms out of my mind. Am I just overthinking this?

Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? Right now, severance pkg. and a more senior title are most important. Has anyone negotiated a title bump? Outcome?

Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role.
