Every person and career path is different; there really isn’t a magic number of years. Doubt can be crippling, sure, but a healthy dose of uncertainty tells me you’re open to feedback and the growth that comes with taking it. Rather than asking if you’re ready for the new role, frame it to ask whether you’ve outgrown your current one. If the answer is yes, go after a promotion — the best way to make progress is to be challenged.

You feel ready, so that’s all that matters. This is the hardest jump imo. Even when you feel ready you’ll still have days you’re struggling.
And from my experience, your ACD isn’t going to be an advocate for you being promoted to their level. I hope I’m wrong, but experience has shown me otherwise. Make sure you’re ACD / supervisor and HR are aware of your goals. Make sure you’re getting regular reviews.
I personally think that there are so many different ways to get there and some don't even spend a single year being a senior copywriter before they take up the role of ACD. However, a general consensus from industry professionals suggests that it typically takes around 4 to 6 years of experience...
Is copy supervisor and group copy supervisor not a role at your agency? To be promoted to management, which creative directors are, you generally need to find team to lead. Your team has the ACD role filled, you’ll need to find another team or suggest a restructuring.
