Just found out I am being promoted to manager. I want to move forward in my career, but I worry about the extra exposure that comes with being a manager. Any advise?

Extra exposure? Can you elaborate? Do you mean extra socializing? I think you need to have a lot of self awareness and be slow/methodical about how you do things. When I started leading I suddenly would say undersocialized things. The biggest problem for an introvert who doesn’t talk much is that they’re sensitive to noise and also foreign situations not going their way. You need to watch your aggression, which is why I emphasized being slow and deliberate. Have coping mechanisms ready.

Think about and try to be the kind of manager you would want to have and don’t worry about being just like anyone else. Extroverted managers tend to be the ones people copy bc they are so visible but that doesn’t mean they are the best

Hello! I’m a recently graduated MSc Criminology student looking for work. Any specific companies I should look into? (Preferably UK based, but open to most of EU)

I’m trying to pivot to PM after >3 years in finance and I have a 2nd round interview with CPO this week. Company has 3.7 on Glassdoor with complaints about CEO, “bro-y” culture, and hard to wfh. It’s a data analytics company with 5 PMs, was bought by a PE firm this year, and has a new (female) CEO as of Oct. Role is 50/50 hybrid, pays well vs what I make, and most importantly would be a foot in the door to PM. Is this a good place to be for PM? What else do I need to find out to know for sure?
