Do you need a degree to get hired with a Pharmaceutical company? I have over 20 years plus in sales. I know I could be an asset to any pharmaceutical company.

You don't need a degree if you have experience and a track record. The easiest way is to get your foot into the door through some connection. Doesn't matter what company, as long as in the pharmaceutical industry. Later you can switch.

like

With that much xp you should just do consulting

like

That requirement will vary by employer. But to qualify for a sales role in a pharmaceutical company, you'll likely need a bachelor's degree. With that much experience, though, you might just make the grade.

Sales pros are welcome everywhere

From my experience, in every interview I have ever been in for pharma sales, a college degree is needed. It’s unfortunate but most do require it

Does anyone feel that the Oil and Gas industry is the most discriminatory industry of all? They won’t even look at resume without O&G experience! It does not make sense to me as I would rather teach someone the specifics of an industry if they were a good fit. And for an industry that has so many obstacles from Government, Environmental Organizations and so on, why they are adding more bad publicity to themselves is not a great approach.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

Asking for a friend:
My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.
