Looking for career ideas for a friend. He is currently working doing general maintenance for the city he resides and does part time fire fighting. He is over the city job, but loves being a fire fighter. There is no potential to become a full time fire fighter at his current, and no openings at any department in a 45 minute radius (for quite some time now). Moving is not an option. Planning to still do fire fighting on the side, what careers could be a good pivot? Working on associates degree.

I tired to switch the company for Growth & Learning, Got 60k + WFH offer. My current company matched the offer (60k + WFH). The company helped me a lot in my bad times (Covid, Mom's illness, my operation etc).

Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project. I've been promoted into a management role from Dev roots, so need to learn more PM processes to be an effective manager in day job, plus would like to start building my own SaaS solution.

I am a sales rep and have worked extremely hard to build a large book of business. Every year upper management seems to find a way to cut commissions and make my hard work, worth less. Is this common? It’s pretty draining to work harder and get paid less year over year even though you’re typically getting more business. I don’t feel valued. Do more for less? Any other great sales companies/ industries that people are happy with and compensated accordingly? Preferably uncapped commissions

I was very successful as an internaional sales exec at a startup for 15 years before we were bought by a large publicly traded company. The culture shift was dramatic, as was the way that I was expected to work. I was laid off a tortuous 3 years after the buyout.

While I was in some ways relieved (put me out of my misery!) I spiralled pretty hard and after a while started working PT jobs, gig type stuff, etc. while I figured things out, and healed from burnout.
