Of course you should expect guidance, mentorship, and coaching. The higher the salary, the more imposter syndrome you feel, and the more support will be required.
Brah. 90k? Brace yourself.🍿🍿
Hahaha I’m young. That makes me feel so much better :)
I’m around this income, have no idea what I’m doing, I always reach out to people for help. I guess one noticeable difference is that I’m more confident in areas where I don’t know much. I realized that I’m smart and capable and that doesn’t change based on how prepared I am for a specific task. It’s how you deal with unknown situations that matters. So, to answer your question.. I don’t think salary is a good indicator for how much guidance you need. I think you’ll always need some type of guidance. Don’t think about whether your performance meets expectations, just learn from your experiences and work on getting better.
Wouldn’t worry about it - just do your best and roll with it. 95% of the time it’ll work out and 3 months from now you’ll have grown so much more for having more ownership yourself.
Just try things and learn. And definitely seek advice where you can when needed.
Also, at ANY income you should expect coaching and build mentors. Even c-suite doesn’t go it alone.
Thank you :) I thought so but I’m still a kid pretty much so I really like looking for guidance from more seasoned professionals in the comments
The way I overcome imposter syndrome is by reminding myself that I am capable of picking up/learning anything but it is a matter of having enough time and putting in the effort. Hence, when I’m struggling I dig in and put in more effort and try to buy more time.
Nothing revolutionary, but I think it’s a good perspective to have rather than questioning my own abilities which I can’t really change.
Not sure - given your title MR I’d imagine many of the problems shouldn’t be too much of an issue, so this must be a complicated situation.
Any further info on what the issue is?
Okay makes sense. I can from a PhD and saw many professors who were good managers and many who are bad. There was no correlation of them getting higher administrative positions - the point being of they can get to a place where they are managing a college and the futures of students with little or no leadership/management training then so can you!!!!
