Who cares bruh. All of my clients have been super casual, wearing a suit would not be a good look
Harddddoooooo
Same as dd1. Never had to wear a suit. Maybe a blazer once in Texas. It's now the "cool thing" for companies to be casual, ppl want to be like Google because that's what the talent these days go towards. Ppl who can dress APPROPRIATELY for the situation > ppl who can dress in a suit.
They say no jeans because you can normally wear nice jeans in our offices.
I was pretty surprised when I was explicitly told "no jackets/blazers" at an O&G client. Not that I'm usually one for excessive formality, but I do enjoy a nice blazer with jeans/chinos occasionally.
Chino
I'm rocking sneakers, cropped or no break slacks, a blouse and a sweater. Jeans occasionally. Tech biz casual all the way.
lol I wear jeans and a polo everyday to client site in So Cal. Clients wear t shirts and shorts. Sharp contrast from my east coast banking clients
Where are you located? Also yes of course if my client is casual I would dress to match, but this is your first few days.
Other than NYC casual dress is not surprising to me then.
Well yeah. You're acting like that's surprising...
Just want to add though - how you dress doesn't really impact performance as long as you have good hygiene.
Oh that was 100% never my thought process. As I said earlier, dress doesn't add, it can only subtract. That goes for under and over. I'm not showing up in a tuxedo.
I'm fat so without a suit everything else looks shitty. Wore a tie on my first day and just jokingly said my dad would slap me if I didn't.
DC but travel around for clients
Sorry I should have asked where are the companies you reference and what industry. Not that it matters, my point was more that it's sad you have to tell people to not wear jeans. Dress doesn't add but it can subtract. It's an effort thing too.

Completely agree D2. Side note, to me a blazer and a casual suit are on the same level to me. I'm not saying I'm showing up in POTUS attire, but it's pretty easy to take a jacket off
I might become more of a fan of the blazer/chink lifestyle in time but I do enjoy a suit without a tie. It's easy and it looks good
My role is mostly with banks. I've been told and seen mostly suits. I'm sure in office is different after you've been there a little while.
