The staff also probably doesn’t understand 99% of the information or what they’re trying to solve. My most success with coaching has been to just call them and screen-share and talk through things, I usually just have them make a list of questions as they work and we do one or two calls to talk through it all.

Also doing live reviews is super helpful to them. If they have a bunch of work prepared I’ll do a live review of one and then they can go back and apply notes from the one to the rest, saves all parties a lot of time and frustration.

I mean they might just not know how to communicate what’s going on. Part of being a good mentor is asking someone leading questions that helps them understand how to tell you the issue.

I love it when seniors play dumb when asked about something pretty straightforward and they ask for a 30 min detailed explanation for something that they are fully aware of (they're the ones that brought it up in the first place).

I use these pings as a “hey I have a problem and generally understand what’s wrong but not how to fix it. This isn’t urgent. When are you free?” type thing. You don’t want to read a book and I don’t want to type one, just call when you’re available

I can definitely sympathize with both the senior and the staff. Because the staff only gives you what they know. But the senior is busy and also doesn’t want to do the work for them. Tough but that’s public accounting lol

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. So my VP at my previous company felt bad and refused to speak to me or attend my farewell after my resignation. His reason was that I somehow betrayed his trust as he had promoted me just last year (after keeping the position open for 4 months and letting me take additional work load after the previous SM left!). Does this make any sense? I mean where does this sense of entitlement or ownership over the employees come from? No wonder the company in question is kind of facing a literal exodus!

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

Hi Group, seems like it should be basic format, but I just can not get it to work. a list of data and want to alternate shade (blue,white,blue,etc) each line but if I have multiple lines I want to group together and they all shade the same. I want to group by the same data in column A, and the number of rows that are the same could vary. So let’s say row 1& 2 same entry in column A(blue) row 3 different (white) row 4,5,6 same as each other different to other rows (blue) etc… help 🙏

One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.
