Boomeranged back to EY because I wasn’t learning much in industry. But that was just my experience. During my time in industry, I went through major personal transitions, including losses in my family, and I’m not sure I could have handled that while working in public accounting. Looking back, I realize I needed that break.
Ditto I had to leave public because I was struggling with my mental health after a really heavy year. But I already have a feeling I’ll be applying for public again in 2 years right now I’m enjoying the time I don’t have to enter charge hours and work until 9 pm while I get myself to happy and healthy but I already know I won’t like this long term.
This isn't a surprising take. Most industry jobs are much more chill than PA, that's the reason people leave PA. Downsides are that your work can be less challenging, not always high caliber coworkers, and not a much upward mobility. Upsides are usually less hours, not as high stress etc.
Yeah, and I get 4 days remote so it’s not too bad at all. I feel like the problem with public is the job can be extremely stressful and the stress doesn’t match the pay
Same been in industry one month and I’m sooo relaxed even took up an extra hobby!
Hi, just wondering what type of job did you jump into? I’m and audit senior and really can’t survive another busy season
Under financial reporting group but basically just ensure all expenses are allocated correctly between 10 operating companies. For a publicly traded company
It is about 90% of the time, and rightfully so. You work for one client: the business that employs you, and your responsibilities are limited in scope, especially the bigger the business is. That said, QE and YE suck but are small in comparison.
