Tech accounting I mean technical accounting. The PE firm is top 10 in the country. It established a consulting group to serve portfolio companies. My question is to get into a better Mba program, should I choose to stay in the big 4 with lower pay and possibly better brand name or should I leave and get the job with the PE firm in its internal consulting group which provides more support financially and more flexibility? Love to hear what you think. Thanks!
Not sure what helps you get in but.... (1) Would the PE firm sponsor your mba? (2) PE will likely help you in MBA to have the experiences to pull from in class and projects.
@kpmg 1 - thanks for your response! Yea but the position is still accounting support, like technical accounting and accounting system implementation. So it’s not like front office or forecasting. Of course I can get the brand name, but I’m just worried if jointing the internal consulting group of a pe firm is better than big 4. And I’m not sure if the pe firm will sponsor my mba.
If would stay in Big 4 and get promoted, at least have a Senior title. It would help with the MBA application. I just got promoted to Senior and start applying schools. Plus Big 4 brand names are important, you will be better than at least 75% of the applicants in the pool (the other 25% are from top IB or MC).
But if the PE firm sponsors your MBA, that’s another story.
I heard accounting advisory places well into MBA programs assuming you get a solid rest of app together. However, may be a red flag that you were not promoted timely
might wanna evaluate why you didn’t get promoted if you’re trying to get into a top MBA program
