Just received a positive pregnancy test this morning! How do I know how many weeks pregnant I am? I have a pretty good idea of the night I conceived but am seeing things online that you calculate based on your first day of your last period? Curious because I typically ovulate late and this month was CD24.

Your doctor will use the first day of your last period. I know it’s confusing but that’s the official way to measure 🤷🏻‍♀️ At your first ultrasound, they may adjust your EDD to account for early/late ovulation depending on how big the fetus is. Congrats!!

This. First day of last period is the official calculation.

If you reference Reddit posts (where there is a looooot of info, so tread with caution) most people count the number of days post ovulation. So 14dpo, would be 14 days past ovulation, which for some women is when they should expect their period if not pregnant

like

As a PCOS gal here, I went off of ovulation date to calculate EDD. If you were to go off of LMP given you ovulated 10 days after the 14 day standard calculation, you’d measure 10 days behind which can show to be a significant difference in size on an ultrasound in the beginning.

https://americanpregnancy.org/resources/pregnancy-calculator/ this lets you calculate weeks pregnant off conception, last period, or due date

You can calculate from ovulation/conception or first day of your last period. Your doctor will likely use the latter until you have an ultra sound to date the pregnancy — if it is close to that date they won’t change it, but if it is very far off they might. I just always kept it in mind so I didn’t feel pressured to induce or whatever for ‘being late’ because I would know I had the potential to be a week or so off of a “typical” timeframe.

I have irregular cycles too — you can count from 2 weeks before your ovulation date. (Dating based on last menstrual period assumes 28 day cycles where you ovulate on day 14. If people with regular 28 day cycles test positive two weeks after they ovulate / when they would expect their period, they are “4 weeks” pregnant, so if you test positive two weeks after you ovulate, you are also “4 weeks” pregnant).
If you don’t know your ovulation date, you can use the estimated conception date although that could be as much as 5 days off.

Alhamdulilah! You got a kun faya kun!!! Congratulations!!!

I sincerely wish you a beautiful and stress-free pregnancy with a wonderful happy baby in your arms 💖

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

How much did you all pay for the 20 week ultrasound out of pocket? My 12 week ultrasound cost me $600 so I am guessing the 20 week one would be even more expensive. I have the high deductible plan from United healthcare.

I’m having a really hard time with my changing body. 13 weeks, I don’t have too many bad side effects of pregnancy or anything so I consider myself lucky (no nausea ever etc) but I’m depressed at work, my skin is completely broken out and showing new broken face capillaries, and I’m not showing a bump yet so I just feel fat and big. I don’t know where this “glow” is but I look in the mirror and literally am grappling with not recognizing myself :( it’s been impossible to find any clothes too.
