If it seems that you don’t have a role it’s because you probably don’t have. The same happened with me, brought in from my country to work with this ECD that was supposed to be amazing. I had a very good award season and he told me all he wanted from me was winning awards. Turned out he didn’t have any client with award opportunities and the agency was not willing to invest. He didn’t care to check in on me and I felt that I had no one to actually report too and ended up reporting to a very junior recently promoted acds to cds that had no interest on working with me either for being to deep inside their own asses.
I waited a year to leave because I was afraid of burning bridges ended up being laid off. I them took a job somewhere I didn’t want to because I needed to find a job quick because of visa.
this clearly stalled my career and just now I’m starting to recover from it.
That happened to me and I left without anything lined up. Though, mine was a combination of the people being nasty, the work being the opposite of what they said it was, and the client was truly horrible. I felt it in my gut day one, but told myself it was anxiety. It was not lol.
I knew it could burn bridges but at that point I had to make myself not care. Not sure how bad your situation is, but leaving did work out for me.
I went through this my self-no actual job description when I arrived in-regardless though I’ve created my own role, brought over and above value… then agency went crazy asking for the impossible new things…had to leave…waisted enough years…leave as early as you can with no harm to your finances!
