Lately, I’ve been running “mini experiments” with my STEM career: one month I focus on public speaking (meetups, brown-bags), another month on a new tool like dbt or Terraform. It keeps things interesting, but also makes my resume look a bit all over the place. Has anyone else tried short, focused “career sprints” like this, and did they actually move the needle on job opportunities?

Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)

I just finished undergrad freshman year at Emory University with a 3.36 GPA. It was primarily my first semester that brought me down(Got a 3.1 first semester and 3.7 second semester). How do you get experience when no one will hire you? I wouldn’t mind hanging a shingle but I feel it’d be irresponsible to do so with no experience. Unlike all of my classmates, I never landed an internship/externship in law school - had only one interview. I was a PT law student, came from a CS background, and worked in IT throughout law school. I passed the bar exam on my first try (Oct 2020) and have only had a couple interviews out of the hundreds of applications I sent out. Any suggestions?

I have 1 job offer that is an hour away and pays 45k, after negotiations (Research Associate Position at a University) .

I have just interviewed for a position closer to home and a base salary of 65k, but haven’t heard back from them in about 2 days (He said he would make a decision by yesterday and I’ve reached out).
