Lateraled to an NYC mid sized firm a few months ago and on pace for about 2100-2200 hours. I chose the firm bc I liked the partners on the zoom interviews I had and they’ve largely turned out to be great as expected but can’t help but think, did I make a mistake turning down big law $$ for perceived better atmosphere/less stress and bs? Corp and securities practice if that makes a diff.

In same boat! The seniors above me are all working 2200-2500/year for way less than market. I’m thinking about making a move to a market paying firm…it’s not like what I’m doing is very fun anyways, might as well get paid for the efforts.

like

Not necessarily because money is not the end all be all. HOWEVER, at 2200 hours they better be paying damn good. What’s your billable minimum.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

I feel like I may have been written off by the one partner, still get a fair amount of work from another and the third has never really given work but has a rep for doing things alone or using seniors. I'm in a litigation, about 9 months in. Is it normal that I spend majority of my time making bundles for my partners (printing, binding, moving docs in a different order whenever there are new documents or he wants to add stuff) reviewing documents and making tables (e.g. dates, which documents are from where), and the only legal work is like notices of admission, list of documents, the occasional research? I'm so bored and I want to quit but I don't know if I have unrealistic expectations.
