Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Hi all.
Has anyone in IBM been on bench for more than 4 months here?
I have been on bench for almost 4 months now & have been getting automated mails asking me to get assigned to a project by searching one by myself, else necessary action might be taken.
And are there any chances of being straightaway fired based on these automated mails?
I would genuinely need an advise from someone who is aware of this kind of situation.
Thanks in advance

FED is behind the curve. Hello Recession
lol, you don’t understand the fed, they need the financial crisis to provide cover for massive cuts, when they do cut rates, inflation, which is actually running at about 10% is going to spike back up. They avoid blame if responding to a financial crisis.
Best way for COX to gain income is to cut costs. It’s not like they can grow revenue unless they expand their network.
And tbh, this smells McKinsey with probably a new management ratio being rolled out.
I’d take the severance. It’s not going to get better.

No I work for Cox. I just know McKinsey was brought in to suggest the changes
At lease there are separation packages. Where I work.,, two weeks $ and good luck to ya
What are the severance packages like?
Any mention of contractors?
Pro
No but Cox has been firing them for years already. They’re irrelevant at this point
Dang this is the third post I have read today about another company doing layoffs. This is so sad to see because the job market is awful as it is and the more layoffs there is the more competitive these jobs are going to be. I really hope who ever gets elected come November creates all the jobs they said they were going to.
They are giving an incredible severance package to those that were selected to volunteer, and anyone with over 20 years of service would be a fool
Not to take it. The old amazing Cox is gone, and they will find a way to be better, I was shocked at this package if I’m being honest, and it makes me sad, but grateful I dedicated my adult life to this family.
At&t & Comcast do this every few years then hire the employees back in lower income jobs. They get government money for the hiring but it's just replacing the ones they let go, scams
To be fair he’s relying on stale, inaccurate job data, government hiring, service industry jobs, and even then it’s horribly inaccurate. He should be looking at W4 forms at the IRS for new hires. The inflation data is also questionable 3-8.5% inflation, is very low for what we saw. He’s flying blind which is why a recession is usually in motion by the rate cut. The data doesn’t get any better, so why would the result?

Who’s he
All the big tech companies are doing layoffs. It’s all in retaliation for all the workers deciding they liked remote work during the pandemic and wanting it to continue. Seems like Barry Sternlicht and Tim Gurner are getting their wish. 😞
It seems odd to me that a company would start the hiring process ( by placing help wanted details ) as they are getting ready to RIFF some team members.
What gives?
