It's great if you can do it, but not everyone has that kind of physical stamina. Can be back-breaking work. My son-in-law has also mentioned of being drenched in sewage and other foul-smelling liquids at times. Just remember to save your money and figure a plan on what to do before your body starts to break down.

Yeah if I ever tire out in the future I may go back to white collar when I’m older. I’m not happy with the direction accounting is going at all. Working crazy hours with no overtime and the job cuts

like

Glad you found your calling. I still love being an accountant. And as a business owner, I can set my own hours. Harder to do that in a blue collar situation.

like

Yes but I wasn’t in a position to open my own business. Audit is much harder to open a business than tax

Ya you need 8,000 hours for a journeyman license, correct? That’s full time for 4 years working in plumbing for what I’m guessing is substantially less than $80? I’d love to do the same but I must be missing something here..

like

Yeah so it’s a fair question but if you can survive the pay cut it may pay off. Some accountants do make more but it’s not many and the job security is very bad in accounting right now.

Swell. Now let’s compare future upside.

While the union fights for me the AICPA fights to lower your wages and get replaced by people from India. That’s the problem the AICPA is screwing everyone but the executives.

KPMG 1. Yeah I’ve been interviewing for senior roles and the pay jumps just aren’t there any more. Even the bonuses I’m being offered are like 5% they used to be like 10-20%. Union hours are typically 7 - 3. I highly recommend it for people that are considering it.

Nice

I come from the construction industry and ideally I’d like to go back. I loved working 5am-2pm my commute was 10 min in the morning and 15 in the afternoon. So awesome.

I’d say you could only if it makes sense. Non union salaries are not as comparable to accounting salaries

I left accounting to work in Procurement.

At EY is I was reimbursed for a stationary bike 2 years ago. Would EY reimburse me for a road bike this coming year? There's a stipulation that says every 5 years but I'm not sure if that means for another stationary bike or if I can get a road bike and be reimbursed.

Just graduated with Aerospace Engineering degree. I am interviewing for multiple positions at once with different companies. One gave me an offer and they want me to get back to them within 2 days. I still have other interviews scheduled and some for higher paying jobs (around 90k) What should I do?
I do like the company that gave me an offer but their base pay was 80k and they went up to 85k. Is asking for them to match the 90k too much? The position is associate systems engineer.

They cant put me on performance defaulters as I voluntarily resigned and also got good feedback from client.
The reason I resigned was the sh^^head manager and project.
He said I would be released from project soon and then on bench but after resigning he is saying you have to serve the NP n we cant release early.
This is only option left to get released from this sh^t place

Hello,

I moved to USA in 2017 on F1 visa. I was not selected for H1-B in the 3 years of my OPT. While my company is transferring me to Canada and can potentially get me back on L1 visa, the shifting situation is stressing me out. The thought of moving to another country in a couple of months is causing a lot of anxiety and tough luck with the lottery is making me feel depressed.

Any suggestions on how to cope with the situation? (Please be considerate in the comment) Thanks in advance!
