Left IB for a really cushy corporate job and I’m starting to realize the allure of IB / PE is really the “cool factor” and the high pace rather than the money. Now making about 180k in corporate working like 20 hours a week so I’m happy with the pay but I feel like something is missing and I’m considering going back to IB (not for the money). I work in commercial real estate retail leasing. Current employer just increased base to $100k with avg. 20-35% bonus/commissions combined. Received offer to exclusively work for a tenant and help them open new locations. $115k base 10% bonus & also stock options. Remote work, lots of driving, similar job title. I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role.
