Looking at an offer for $100k for a senior position in HCOL (non NYC/SF). I would be waking away from promo to manager in a niche industry that I do not have a desire to work in long term. Currently my S3 salary is low 90s. I want to push the offer to 105, doubly so since the company is returning to office in a month or two.

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
