Hi! I am new to the fishbowl app and was just causally browsing on things construction related.
My first question will be: What do you mean as a Construction Project Manager? Do you mean job title as Construction Project Manager or Project Manager for Real Estate and Construction projects?
Construction Project Manager as a title, sits on site, deals with trade contractors, manages on site health & safety etc. You will need to have actual construction knowledge and relevant trainings to be in this job. I don’t think JLL has this role in their company. So I am thinking you might be referring to my second assumption.
Project Manager in Real Estate and Construction is what I do. This job is client facing and your experience from PM in automotive industry will be more transferrable. However as a project manager for real estate development, you will still need to understand the whole development process from a strategic point of view. Everyone I know who is working in development has real estate background, either through previous work or education. I would recommend you speaking to recruitment agents and find out how much transferrable skills you have and also express your interest to become professionally chartered / do a relevant master degree!
Good luck!
Thank you for your response! I will seek out some recruiters who work at JLL and get some feedback. I spoke to one individual who worked at JLL's PDS & he had suggested I learn Argus or something similar to practice some RE financial modeling. Hope you have a great start to 2023! Wishing you all the best 👍🏽
