Welcome to the Philosophy bowl! The goal of this bowl is to discuss principles in philosophy that we can apply to our lives and fortify ourselves for life using our collective knowledge. It is also to help one another as we all struggle at different points in our lives. Personally, philosophy has served as my northern star that I use to navigate through life’s storms. Hope you all enjoy and please share this bowl with anyone that you believe will benefit. I will be posting later today

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

I saw some sales managers discussing hiring strategies, especially for entry level roles (e.g. SDR, BDR).

One strategy that came up was having the applicant do 90 minutes of cold calling into real prospects with the hiring manager coaching.

What do you think of this approach? Would be curious to hear from both hiring manager perspectives and from candidate perspectives.
