Double the monthly dues is a realistic estimate.
We average close to double dues on other costs. Make sure you understand what time of membership it is. Some clubs that you have ownership in can assess huge fees when they do course, club, etc updates.
As a single member (no wife and kids) that is only joining for golf, do you really think it will be double?
Would be joining as an equity member and asked about assessments when I met with the pro last week. The last two special assessments were in 2016 (previous management left things a financial mess) and 2019 (updates to pool and outdoor dining/patio). Sounds like they’re in a good spot now as they’re nearing capacity and doing everything to prevent large special assessments moving forward. $500 of the $8700 is an annual assessment paid into the capital fund. Additionally they are raising the initiation fee an additional $3000 for all new members starting in March.
Double is a conservative estimate. F&B after rounds, golf tournaments, locker/bag storage fees, golf shop gear, special assessments and so on - it’s all adds up.
Best thing to do is ask current members and they’ll tell you.
Special assessments aren’t popular but they’re the cost of keeping a modern, popular club. And just because you might not use other facilities (pool, tennis) doesn’t mean you won’t be charged with assessments related to them.
36k a year in dues. Probably about 60k all in
Double your dues minimum
I have a wife and young kids so take with a grain of salt, but my monthly dues are under $1000 but we consistently spend $4-$10k/month. We do a lot of meals there, and a lot of club events that can add up (member/guest, member/member, various social events that include open bar and are priced accordingly, etc.). But we knew that going in cause all of our friends are there.
