Hi Folks,
Hope you are doing well, I need valuable suggestion on few of my queries.
I had joined KPMG(KGS) on April 2022, during the interview i have been told that i would be working on Java Backend Development as my background belongs to same technology and my interview was also happened on Java/Spring/Microservices; but they put me on Low-Code / No code Platform and its totally tool based work. I am frustrated with the current work as i didnt find anything productive to learn.Continued in com KPMG @
Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

I know I’m biased as a Strat but I would think a strategic account person would be a good thing? Unless it is what others were saying about having to work a level down; they may think you won’t be happy in the role.
just a reminder that it's considered to be helpful to bookend your interview with stating how confident you are that you can make major contributions in the role rather than this is what you want because it really is all about getting them to realize what's in it for them. It also helps as you close out your discussion to reaffirm that you were highly confident about the contributions you could make before the conversations and you are even more enthusiastic now. Then, the important thing to say next is to ask if they have any additional questions they would like to ask you so they are just as confident as you are about the contributions you can make. I to their candid input. is often disarming and you sometimes really get a chance to hear what hesitations or concerns they have while you still have time to respond to their candid input.
Perceived culture fit (ie my experience with current clients seems more structured than that of the agency), or it turns out they prioritize specific experience more heavily than the recruiter thought (such as heavy TV production). I’m applying for Account Director roles, a lateral move, so I am surprised with the emphasis on executional experience over business leadership
Literally got told this by my (new to agencies) ED... basically that he’s “changing my role” and I’m essentially a supe now
I’ve also received feedback that I speak like a strategist though my background is in account 😑
NYC, LA, PDX
Are you a straight white male?
Nope
Yeah that one is bizarre. It’s an asset as an account person to have strategic thinking.
I’m doing my best to fight the “Account people only forward emails” stereotype 😊
That seems like waaay too much interviewing. You are probably exhausted. Be choosey. Know what you want. Be clear about it. Listen to the opportunity and ensure it aligns with your goals.
Can you read people and situations? V important as this work thing marches on
Also yes, I’m so exhausted. But if I haven’t gotten a Yes yet, I don’t feel I’m in the position to say no to an interview
Whats their reasoning/feedback?
Reading all these comments and your responses, OP, it does seems they want someone who can do the day-to-day work, and you have not been talking about that part of your experience. I would think you get to your level by doing all the things at lower-experience levels, but likely they want to hear you say that you are able to.
Good luck.
Thank you, I appreciate the thoughtfulness and will take this into account. I shifted my original narrative from focusing on executional work to strategy/leadership examples because I sensed that being executional at a director level was looked down upon by some interviewers. Will be more mindful to speak from both angles next time.
How many years of exp? Just curious. It gets more competitive at the director level.
9 years
Have you ever considered that one of your references could be telling all these people something bad about you? Not sure if they’ve asked for references, but if you’ve made it to that many final interviews it’s either that or your salary demand is too high
I trust my references of course, but only one agency has asked for references so I don’t think that’s it. Salary range was discussed with the recruiter before any interviews.
At least you did not get ghosted after the final rounds
What types of roles? What specific feedback are you receiving?
Account Director! The feedback is in my first reply up top.
