Tell me you don't pay attention to city politics without telling me you don't pay attention to city politics

There was NO tax cut for property taxes in Chicago, full stop.
Couple important comments:
A) anecdotal evidence is not evidence.
B) this means your buildings valuation fell most likely
C) our budget deficit grew as a result of BJs lack of financial accumen
D) BJ is so financially illterate he had thousands of past due water bills when he was running for mayor. Dude couldn't even budget his own household, I wouldn't trust him to run a lemonade stand let alone a city budget. He effectively stole from fellow taxpayers by stiffing on his bills for city services.
Wait till next years budget comes
I havent heard approval ratings for a minute, the whole ICE stuff might have helped drum up a little bit more support for him, but theres a reason the man had a sub 10% approval rate at one point.
Practically no one likes him lol
Ha, nice sample size. My taxes went up 23%, others I know are between 15 and 30% increases.
The city treasurer just did an analysis and was on the news today, average 16% increase across the city.

The same city treasurer that’s refusing to invest in treasury bonds in some attempt to get back at Trump.

Notable property tax increases across the city

I asked a friend who also lives in a downtown high-rise (in a different neighborhood), and his property taxes went down as well. Any other data points from downtown areas (the Loop, Streeterville, River North)? It seems the city is trying to rebalance property-tax burdens by reducing taxes in already high-tax areas (downtown) and increasing them in outlying neighborhoods (Garfield Park, Englewood).
Rising Star
Is there any universe where it’s fair or makes sense to pass the bill onto the people of Garfield Park and Englewood? Especially from this mayor that pretends to care about helping poor people.
Rising Star
He raised the shit out of them in Lawndale.

Downtown office property taxes decreasing = residential property taxes increasing. Thankfully mine only went up ~$1,000. I feel for those in the south and west sides who are getting hit the hardest, based on everything I've read.
Rising Star
Because crime and anti-business policies like the head tax Johnson is pushing for have driven too many businesses out of downtown.
