We do provider work, but a lot of the healthcare work we do is payer focused. A lot of our MDs also serve Pharma clients. While you can definitely do provider facing work here, if he wants to do primarily that, a healthcare focused consultancy might fit better
Thanks all! Do your MDs usually come in at Big 4 equivalent Director positions? He has former consulting experience, med school, practice, switched to administration and has been doing big turnarounds for the system he works for. Realizes he misses the strategy consulting piece of it all, but all his old connections are retired. So any advice on getting his foot back in the door would be appreciated also!
Coincidentally McBee is a healthcare consulting firm
But OP to answer your question among the MBB, I think it’s McK followed by BCG
I’m not sure but I would say McKinsey likely has the biggest share.
That’s being said, BCG also does a ton of HC work in the NE offices and some in the WC offices. FWIW, payer/provider is our highest growth segment within the HC practice area this year
Years of experiences in which roles would help
Accounting background, 5 years consulting, then med school/residency/fellowship, 3 years practicing, 2 years admin, currently Medical Director (sees patients along with admin role, but will be going straight admin/c-suite leadership or back to consulting). His CV is impressive and his business/analytical/big picture strategy mindset has been invaluable.
We have a big HC Provider practice and good strategy side in Monitor Deloitte. We have huge provider clients and do a lot of strategy and turnaround work
