How can someone from McKinsey guess what you mean by USDC or PDM? :) The role you mentioned clearly is not in their traditional consulting path (given the title) but it doesn’t sound like onshore delivery center (USDC) nor project based hire (PDM) either. I recommend you remove your bias and be open to learning about any opportunity that comes your way.
PS. USDC and PDM Talent Models are not the Traditional Consulting Talent model, but are very valued by the firm, they help create a flex business/resource model to optimize project costs. It also gives flexibility for practitioners that don’t want to do sales, business development and work nights/weekends.
Deloitte 1 so when do i get to stop working nights and weekends and proposals then? (USDC here)
No idea what is USDC or PDM but in general you’re correct. Not as “valued” as consultants, although some solutions still get their fair share of client time and are not “back office” only
Thanks MK1, I was wondering if they’re back office only role given the way the description was written it said you “work with McKinsey consultants “ to deliver solitons.
OP. They are not back office at all. Solution associates run the solutions Mckinsey has develop or are in process of developing. You are effectively managing the GTM strategy, working with clients/consultants on how to improve the product etc. You will likely need to manage developers and work across teams to figure out how to best solve the problem with technology. As a solution associate you can progress to manager, solution leader (AP equivalent) and even get elected.

I would also check with recruiter the promotion path for this position and how it compares to Deloitte roles. e.g. Equivalent to Consultant or Senior Consultant etc.
Use it as a way to get in and network your way ahead
Yeah so you are definitely a second class citizen but still may get client facing time and could longer term try to move to a full consulting role
Is McKinsey engagement manager base salary typically in the 190s? What is the bonus like? I don’t really trust Glassdoor so looking for some additional insight from the boooooowwwl here 😁
Sounds right to me. Total comp a little short of 250
