Funny, at my firm (law) younger associates tend to want more flexibility and it’s the older partners with, presumably, the spouses and nice houses etc who are much more focused on returning to old ways.
Firms don’t get any benefit out of continuing to employ you if you’re not productive. So don’t you think whatever policies they come up with will take what you’re concerned about into account?
I think the voice of middle management echoes the most in these conversations, they're likely to be in their early years of familyhood. But I do think that your comment provides interesting insight.
Wondering if there is a cohort who got burnt because they didn't get a chance to get used to wfh before joining? But I do still think that networking is critical and perhaps new joiners haven't realised it as much because they haven't seen the greener grass.

OP your take is refreshing. Most here take indefinite WFH as their birthright and will violently attack with words anyone that threatens that existence. I’m with you that some level of in person work is crucial in consultative lines of work (I’m in tax so somewhat the same as what you may do but also obviously different). Networks, both internal and external, are key to success in this business. Absent an already existing base, not sure how that develops outside of a good deal of in person interaction.
I’ve worked from home the last 3 years - I’ve made tons of connections and have had access to all levels. It actually makes it easier to just ping a shareholder then wait for them to show up to the office.
Feel free to DM me and I can give you some tips and tricks I’ve learned.
I see WFH as my birthright. I’m not giving it up lol.
OP, did you participate in Accenture’s return to work survey? That was your way of providing input and data from which decisions on policies would be made. There isn’t an ivory tower of decision-makers at the firm that are only considering their own perspectives and life stages. Other firms may have handled it differently but you were given a voice and a channel to use. Also, Accenture doesn’t use zoom so are you sure you work for us? Hope that helps.
You don't call it MS Teams fatigue haha.
